A surrealistic existential story of survival, love & death taking
place in the sand dunes of the subconscious minds.
Shakti, the Indo-Japanese dancer, with her eclectic blend of fiery India
and ethereal Japan, who mixes eastern dance movements with western jazz,
dances to music created for her by legendary musician, Steven Severin,
who established himself as one of the foremost alternative artists of the
London punk scene. Together they collaborate to create a piece that provokes the subconscious
and challenges the perceptions of eros and ecstasy.
The Woman in the Dunes is about a woman trapped in the dunes and her attempts
to survive and finally comes to realize and accept her fate.
The show was premiered at ICA in London and has been shown in Avignon ,
Edinburgh, Montreal, Adelaide, Tokyo, Kyoto and Tel Aviv.
"A collaboration of 2 unique and radical minds."
