A Woman's Symposium on Love

“The Devastating Little Breath of Eros”

A film by Katherine S. Frey

Through dreams and the expression of these dreams, we re-vision history and reality.  This is the aim of the Symposium which explores love from diverse cultures and focuses on the shadow side of Eros that the Western World inherited from Plato's Symposium and then passed on to Ficino who sparked the Renaissance with his Symposium.

Concerned that women were excluded from the previous Symposiums, the filmmaker had a dream in Florence that Ficino gave her the chair to hold the next Symposium on Love. That dream would not let go of her until she shared it with others who came in all their colours to express love through their myths, songs, dances, philosophical and spiritual dialogue which they present in the form of the Randai, an Eastern art form of theatre-in-the-round.

Soon after the realization of her dream of the Woman's Symposium on Love, Katherine succumbed to cancer and passed away.
Her wish is to pass this on to all the women (and men) in the world.
