Gubijinsou - The Silent Cries of the Love-Forlorn Heroines “Egiku Hanayagi, transports the public to the Land of the Rising Sun!” Egiku interpretes the heroines and women in Japanese literature of Natsume Souseki and Chikamatsu who fall in love with men who give them pain and sorrow. The dances show the despair of the women as they fight for the man who is unfaithful and who finally abandons them. Her “Weaving Crane” has won the Japanese Government National Arts Award for her outstanding choreography. It has been well acclaimed in Edinburgh , London , Montreal and Avignon . She is a regular performer at the National Theatre in Tokyo and in the Avignon Public Off Festival. She has been a regular performer at The Garage International in the various festivals such as Edinburgh and Montreal and Adelaide.Other works:
