I have found Fringe Nirvana at The Garage
in Grindlay Street.
A venue run by the enigmatic Shakti, where
eclectic programming means you could arrive
in the morning, stimulate your feelings bits
with some drama; recover in the venue's exotically
comfortable cafe bar (run by the local South
African caterers Ndebele) and give your mouth
the most fun it will have this month by trying
one of their home-made date balls.
You could hang out in the courtyard
and chill.
Or you could take advantage of the
greatest
bargain in Edinburgh since Bliss's
happy
hour - The Sushi Bar. Really good,
really
fresh, really cheap Japanese food.
No, really!
The Garage is another country. Actually,
it is several different countries.
The venues
themselves have an above-average oxygen
level
. . . and the staff are warmer than
the inside
of the venues. So give your head and
your
heart and your friends a treat that
your
wallet will approve of.
Take them to The Garage! (Kate Copstick -
